Pop! is a simple but effective jQuery plugin for creating dropdown menus.
It enables you to store any content in a container & shows/hides it with the clicks.

How to use it?

We continue to deliver fresh high-quality freebies to our readers and we continue to pursue the diversity of subjects that we are going to cover on Smashing Magazine. From the beginning of the year each icon set is supposed to be dedicated to some specific theme or topic that may turn out to be useful for your next project. Today we are releasing 2 free high-quality icon sets.

Icon Set

Oliver Twardowski, a graphic designer from Bonn, Germany, has put a lot of time and efforts to release a handy icon set especially for Smashing Magazine and its readers. His set, aimed to help designers in their web designs and user interface designs, contains 177 icons in the resolution 48×48px. The files are available for free download as .png and .psd-sources, so you can modify the files as you wish.

As a huge Simpsons fan, this is possibly the greatest thing I have ever found online. Forcing a footer to stick to the bottom of a page is sometimes challenging.
CSS Sticky Footer presents a cross browser solution including Google Chrome.

When compared to some other popular solutions, it works with floated 2-column layouts & no overlaps occur in resized browsers. Also, no empty divs required for pushing.

We like to experiment with new ideas and concepts. We like to challenge ourselves and provide our readers with new formats. This post is the first in our “Ask Smashing Magazine” series, in which well-known developers from the web design community answer our readers’ questions and suggest solutions to common problems.

Today, we are glad to welcome Chris Coyier, who you may know from his articles on CSS-Tricks, to our Smashing Magazine Editorial Team. From now on, Chris will regularly answer your CSS- and jQuery-related questions and present answers to the most interesting, useful and original ones in his articles on Smashing Magazine. Welcome, Chris!

example

Of course, you can send any CSS- and jQuery-related question you want. To ask a question, you can do any of the following:

  1. Send an email to Chris at ask [at] smashingmagazine [dot] com with your question,
  2. Post your question in our forum, putting “[Ask SM]” in the thread title (yes, the forum is not officially launched yet, but it is running!),
  3. Or, if you have a quick question, just tweet us @smashingmag or @chriscoyier with the tag “[Ask SM].”

Please note: Chris will do what he can to answer most questions, but he will certainly not be able to answer all of them. However, we hope that our forum may help you to solve your problem in case Chris couldn’t help you out.
